RESPONSES
1. I thought that I'd be able to meet a lot of family members (which definitely happened). Apparently I went to Taiwan when I was one but clearly I don't remember anything about it. Being able to meet the family members who held/took care of me when I was there as a baby, was such a cool experience.
2. I felt that I would be able to practice and improve on my Chinese skills. Communicating with natives would help me to practice on listening/understanding Chinese as well as practicing to speak it on my own.
3. I really wanted to learn more about the history and culture of Taiwan.
4. I was able to meet a lot of the family on my dad's side. From aunts and uncles to second and third cousins to great-aunts and -uncles, I was able to meet and become closer with my dad's relatives. My family and I also became fairly close with the people who contributed to our family photo experience (make-up/hair stylists, photographer).
5. I thought that I would benefit from this trip because I'd be able to learn and experience more of my culture and also be able to improve on my Chinese skills.
