Explain how your experience affected you as a person.
Overall, I think this experience has made me more aware/"in touch" with my culture. I've learned and tried many new things that have to do with my culture and I'm so glad we were able to do this trip for that reason.
How did you change, if at all?
I don't think I really changed at all. If anything, I think I am more "in touch" with my culture and I think I'm also even more open-minded now.
Was this a meaningful experience? Why or why not?
I definitely think this was a meaningful experience. Not only was I able to meet more of my family but I was also able to learn more about my culture. Some of the best memories were being able to spend time with my dad's relatives and, of course, being able to eat so much great food.
What new knowledge or skills did you learn from this experience?
I learned a lot more about Taiwan's history after visiting The National Palace Museum and I also learned a lot about my family. I would also say that I've improved my Chinese speaking and listening skills throughout the trip.
How would you do it differently if you had to start over?
Honestly I thought the whole trip/experience was amazing. But if there is one thing I'd do differently it would be to study up and practice my Chinese a lot more before we left for Taiwan. I did a little bit but I think I could've done more to prepare myself and be more confident in speaking Chinese while we were there.
